EARTH FUTURE ACTION
On May 28, 2024, while visiting an Israel Defense Forces post, former U.S.
Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley wrote and signed an arguably genocidal
message that read "Finish Them! America [loves] Israel Always" on an Israeli
artillery shell. Haley is an avid supporter of Israel's war in Gaza and has ties
to the pro-Israel lobby group, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).
This action has prompted much outrage from humanitarian groups. IfNotNow, a U.S.
Jewish group that supports Palestinian rights, wrote on X, "Nothing to see here,
just AIPAC's favorite politician, Nikki Haley, celebrating death and destruction
in Gaza with an autographed missile." American civil rights lawyer Alec
Karakatsanis wrote on X, "The message Nikki Haley is writing on Israeli bombs is
one of the most depraved things I have ever seen."
The timing of Haley's autograph on the weapon heightened the outrage due to the
May 26, 2024, Israeli bombing of a safe zone in Rafah, which killed at least 45
civilians, who were primarily women and children. This attack was followed two
days later by another assault on a refugee camp that killed at least another 21
Palestinian civilians. Former Greek minister of finance and pro-Palestine public
intellectual Yanis Varoufakis wrote on X, "Nikki Hailey in Israel scribbling
"FINISH THEM" on the shells that the IDF is about to fire into Rafah in defiance
of the International Court of Justice. Biden provided the shells; Republicans
autographed them. The U.S. political class is united in its complicity with this
genocide."
